In this contentious election year when everyone is concerned about which presidential contender gets the delegates in a primary, you would think information about the candidates running for party delegate, especially, who they support, would be easy to obtain, after all, you want to be sure the delegate you vote for supports the presidential candidate you are voting for, right? Well, the Democrats put that information on the ballot, but the Republicans do not. After several unanswered phone calls to the Erie County GOP, it seemed we should do a little digging.
The list of delegates you vote for depends on which congressional district you live in. For those Erie County residents who live in the 5th district, where Glenn Thompson is your representative, we have a list of which delegates support a specific candidate or if they will support the candidate who wins the popular vote. We did the research for the North East PA Online web site and you can see all of the details over there.
Now, don’t you think this information should be freely available? Why is it so hard to find? Why, too, is it so hard to get a phone call answered by the Erie County GOP? This is shaping up to be a very interesting election year.
