A complete list of planned improvements during the four year period 2017 – 2020 in Erie County for highways, bridges, pedestrian facilities and more is now available for public review and comment. If you have something to say, now is the time.

Public Notice follows:

The Erie County Department of Planning, on behalf of the Erie Area Transportation Study Metropolitan Planning Organization (Erie MPO), in cooperation with PennDOT and other area transportation stakeholders, has recently completed the final draft of the FFY 2017 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for Erie County. The TIP identifies and authorizes funding for highway, bridge, and transit transportation projects to be undertaken in Erie County over the next four years (2017-2020).

In accordance with Federal guidelines for the development of such transportation programs, a 30-day public review / comment period is required to be held prior to formal adoption of the document by the Erie MPO. The comment period will open Wednesday June 8, 2016 and close Friday July 8, 2016. This Transportation Improvement Planning process will satisfy the Program of Projects (POP) requirements of the transit Urbanized Area Formula Program.

In addition to the ‘FFY 2017 Erie TIP’ document, the ‘Procedures for TIP Administrative Actions’ for Erie County are also available for review at this time. The ‘Procedures for TIP Administrative Actions’ outlines the approved method used by the Erie MPO and PennDOT to amend the TIP.

Copies of these documents are available for review at www.eriecountygov.org/TIP or by contacting: Erie County Department of Planning 150 East Front Street, Suite 300 Erie, PA 16507 Phone: (814) 451-7325

An Open House to discuss these documents will be held Thursday, June 22, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Summit Township Municipal Building 1st Floor Conference Room 1230 Townhall Road Erie, PA. The public will have an opportunity to register comments at that time.

A Final meeting of the Erie MPO Coordinating Committee will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Summit Township Municipal Building 1st Floor Conference Room 1230 Townhall Road Erie, PA. The meeting agenda includes review and formal adoption of the 2017 TIP for Erie County.
