
All of those COVID-19 nursing home deaths have attracted the notice of the DOJ and Pennsylvania is one of four states under the spotlight. Nursing homes are the overwhelming source of COVID-19 deaths in Erie County and they keep rising. Just two days ago, the state reported 30 deaths in Erie County and today’s total from nursing homes is 33.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) said Wednesday it is requesting data from the Democratic governors of Pennsylvania, Michigan, New York, and New Jersey on COVID-19-related orders that may have resulted in the deaths of thousands of elderly nursing home residents.
It’s interesting that news reports in our local media never mention this. They’re so very concerned about the safety of students going to school, but as the chart below indicates, there hasn’t been a single death from COVID-19 in the under 20 age group in the entire state. Yet the high proportion of deaths in nursing homes gets no attention at all. I wonder why …
