The CDC released what they call the Infection Fatality Ratio (IFR), the number of individuals who die from COVID-19 among all infected individuals.
The CDC likes to look at things from the negative perspective, how many will die in each age group, but I prefer to look at things in a positive light, so I show those same numbers in reverse, as the chances of surviving, how many will live stated as a percentage which may be easier for most people to understand.
Infection fatality ratio:
0-19 years: 0.00003
20-49 years: 0.0002
50-69 years: 0.005
70+ years: 0.054
Chances of survival if infected:
0-19 years: 99.997 percent
20-49 years: 99.98 percent
50-69 years: 99.5 percent
70+ years: 94.6 percent
This is a crisis?
There are all sorts of diseases and medical conditions with far worse outcomes and yet Governor Wolf is hanging on to his emergency powers because we’re in a crisis? What crisis? He says he’s following the data, what data?
Any reporter that doesn’t report these numbers isn’t doing his or her job. If the local news media won’t cover this, you have to look for yourself. You can read it on the CDC website.
This is simple arithmetic, no advanced math involved. Why won’t the news media report this? Why are we still under a state of emergency in Pennsylvania?
There is no crisis
Look at those survival rates again. Remember, too, if you’re healthy and you get infected, your survival rate is even better. There is no crisis. Open Pennsylvania now, completely, schools, businesses, everything. Enough is enough.
