Don’t you love it when a whole lot of plans come together? Over the past year or so, the residents of Erie County have been presented with three different plans detailing what a variety of planning groups think should happen in Erie County and the City of Erie itself. Destination Erie / Emerge 2040 came first, covering all of Erie County, then Erie Refocused was presented aiming at the entire City of Erie and finally the Erie Downtown Master Plan arrived, specifically targeting the downtown Erie area. Lots and lots of pages, pictures, drawings and ideas and totaling almost $2 million dollars in fees paid by taxpayers to the organizations putting them all together.
If you live anywhere in Erie County or the City of Erie, you really should take some time to look these over. They’ll give you an idea of what your local officials think needs to be done. We’ve put the links to each of the plans here in one place so you don’t have to search for them, some are a little hard to find, but if you have an interest in the future of Erie County, it is definitely worth the effort to read them and make a few notes. One caution, these are long, sometimes written in needlessly dense bureaucratic language, but if you’re persistent, you’ll make it through. Have fun!
